Auto Lights

Privacy Policy

Overview

Auto Lights is a macOS utility that automatically controls your Elgato lights based on camera activity. This privacy policy explains how the app uses device permissions and handles your data.

Key Point: Auto Lights does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All functionality operates entirely on your local device and network.

Permissions We Request

Camera Access

Auto Lights monitors whether your Mac's camera is in use by other applications (such as video conferencing apps). The app does not capture, record, or view any camera footage. It only detects the on/off state of camera usage to trigger your lights accordingly.

Local Network Access

Auto Lights communicates with Elgato lights on your local network using the Bonjour protocol to discover devices and HTTP to send commands. Network traffic stays entirely within your local network and is never sent to external servers.

Data Collection

Auto Lights does not collect any data. Specifically:

Data Storage

The only data stored by Auto Lights is your preferences (such as light configurations and brightness settings), which are saved locally on your Mac using the standard macOS preferences system. This data never leaves your device.

Third-Party Services

Auto Lights does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks.

Children's Privacy

Auto Lights does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age.
